Oct. 9, 2025: Wellness Begins with ‘We:’ Trust in Pandemic Prediction & Prevention panel discussion

October 9 at 8:00 AM | Madison, The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center | Conference details
Conversations about pathogens of pandemic potential are typically confined to laboratories, which can fuel public skepticism. How might stronger collaboration between communities and scientists improve both the responsiveness and impact of pandemic science? As part of the 2025 Engagement Scholarship Consortium conference, co-hosted this year by Virginia Tech and being held in Roanoke, this panel discussion featuring VT faculty in the Center for Communicating Science and NSF's COMPASS Center will explore the COMPASS Center’s initiative, Ethics and Pandemic Science: A National Dialogue, and highlight how community dialogue can help shape pandemic science before outbreaks emerge.
Panelists:
- Jon Catherwood-Ginn
- Julie Gerdes
- Brittney Harris
- Carrie Kroehler
