A female student standing in front of a projector screen displaying scientific words. She is smiling and gesturing with her hands as 10+ students sit in the classroom audience facing her. The professor is seated and emphatically pointing at the screen.
Undergraduate researchers practice describing their work without using their 10 most commonly used jargon terminology, one of the activities facilitated by the Center for Communicating Science as part of the STEER Summer Series, a step in helping to make their research more accessible to those outside of their field.

June 3-July 22: Center for Communicating Science faculty are facilitating a series of workshops for the undergraduate students participating in the chemistry department's National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program, Students Transforming Energy and Environmental Research (STEER). STEER brings talented undergraduate students, exceptional faculty, and dedicated graduate student mentors together to address the grand challenges associated with global warming and climate change.
