Getting media coverage

Use your University’s and community partners' communication channels to get the word out to the local press about the event. If your event will be open to the public (instead of consisting entirely of school groups), you'll want to promote in advance to bring folks out. If it's for school groups only, you still may want to contact local news media — it's a fun story to cover!

See below for examples of written and televised news stories about Virginia Tech's Flip the Fair at the Melrose Branch Library in Roanoke, Virginia.

A man with white hair and a yellow tie and a smiling woman in white pants and a black shirt sit across a female news anchor smiling and looking at the camera. A red and blue banner frames the screen that reads "Looking Ahead: Flip the Fair." A background screen reads "WFXR News: Fox."
