"Improv Skills for Science Communicators"
Online workshop at Science Talk '25
Science with society proposes an orientation between science communicators and the public that is reciprocal, collaborative, and mutually respectful of unique expertise. These principles are elemental in improvisatory theatre, which suggests they can be cultivated through storytelling, movement, and role-play. This workshop will offer theory and experience in select forms of improvisation to equip science communicators with expansive and engaging tools for interacting with the public.
Speaker: Jon Catherwood-Ginn
Co-Director of Research & Assistant Professor of Applied Theatre, Center for Communicating Science, Virginia Tech
