Nov. 15, 2025: Science Fair, Flipped! Join the "Flip the Fair" Fun at the Virginia Tech Science Festival November 15

November 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. | Virginia Tech Science Festival | Center for the Arts and Newman Library, Blacksburg VA, 24061

You don't have to do flips to come to Flip the Fair -- join us at the Science Festival to become a science fair judge!

The Virginia Tech Science Festival is a campus-wide celebration of curiosity, creativity, and discovery. Each year, thousands of visitors explore hands-on exhibits and meet scientists, artists, and innovators who show that science is bigger than you think!

This year’s festival will feature a special spin-off of the beloved community outreach event Flip the Fair, typically held each spring at Roanoke’s Melrose Branch Library.

At Flip the Fair, the science fair is turned upside down: instead of students presenting to adults, researchers share their work on tri-fold posters, while you, the visitors, become the judges! Explore how this playful, flipped format makes science fun, sparks curiosity, and connects people of all ages with real research. We hope to see you there!

This special Flip the Fair experience is co-hosted by the U.S. National Science Foundation’s COMPASS Center and the Center for Communicating Science.

The Virginia Tech Science Festival is organized by the Center for Educational Networks and Impacts (CENI).
